A Poem About Prayer

Mag_PaliLookOut6

My soul usually weeps and my heart always cries
When I think of the sorrow and grief,
That can come to a man who won’t even try
To Kneel and ask God for relief

We all have our pains and troubles to bear
Each minute of every day
And the Adversary’s the kind who’ll always be there
To tell us we needn’t pray

He wants us to quit, to give up the ghost
To darken God’s shining ray
By making us think the battle is lost
And it’s God who darkened our day

But, this I can say with all the strength of my soul
The Lord’s not the one who has moved
It’s just part of the way to put our names on the roll
Of those whom our God has approved

We all must be tested some time in our life
So He’ll know if we really care
But He’ll never give us the pain or the strife
We have not the strength to bear.

So when the Adversary does come to lead you astray
Look to your God through prayer
And when you’ve survived the trials of the day
You will find He was always there.

Perseverance

“I am only one, but I am one.

I can not do everything, but I can do something.

And I will not let what I can not do interfere with what I can do.”

My Daily Reflections – Day 4

Imagine, if only for a moment, how much more peace you could experience in your daily existence if you would only allow yourself to see all experiences, both positive and negative, regardless of lessons learned, as gifts.

Imagine that instead of constantly analyzing and judging your experiences, you smile and are thankful for having them. My friend, listen carefully, for the beginning of knowledge lies in this simple shift in perception.

Imagine a life where, instead of asking why or why me you simply trust and say “thank you.” How much more peace and joy would this simple shift in perception bring to your life and to those around you? My dear friend, heaven is indeed now available on Earth.

My Daily Reflections – Day 3

Every year of my life I grow more convinced that it is wisest and best to fix our attention on the beautiful and the good, and dwell as little as possible on the evil and the false.

My Daily Reflections – Day 2

What I focus on in life is what I get. And if I concentrate on how bad I am or how wrong I am or how inadequate I am, if I concentrate on what I can’t do and how there’s not enough time in which to do it, isn’t that what I get every time? And when I think about how powerful I am, and when I think about what I have left to contribute, and when I think about the difference I can make on this planet, then that’s what I get. You see, I recognize that it’s not what happens to you; it’s what you do about it. -W. Mitchell

Stop and Think

It’s a little thing to do,
Just to think,
Anyone, no matter who,
Ought to think,
Take a little Time each day
From the minutes thrown away,
Spare it from your work or play,
Stop and think.

You will find that those who fail
Do not think.
Half the trouble that we see,
Trouble brewed for you and me
Probably would never be
If we’d think!

Life is a journey – enjoy the ride!

“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast; you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.” -Eddie Cantor (1892-1964)
